Descriptions

Descriptions:
Above is my final outcome of the poster.

The title of it that says "save the icecaps, save the world" have a very obvious meaning which is by saving the icecaps, the world will surely be saved becaus if the icecaps are being ignored, the world will soon be 100% water!!!

Then the "water>ice" symbol, it is meant to deliver the message which is stop making the iceberg melt!!

Then the text on the left bottom corner which is " Start saving the icecaps now, or we will be living underwater in the future!! " which is just another way i used to represent the meaning of the title.

Tools used:
  1. pen tools
  2. rectangle tool
  3. star tool
  4. type tools
  5. opacity mask
  6. 3d revolve effect tool
  7. live paints
  8. selection tool
  9. paint brush

The step by step description

1st, I place in my iceberg from my previous assignment and added texts

Then, i put in my symbol from assignment 1.

After that , i draw a shape of a water droplets[half of it], then use the 3d effect and made it ooks like a water droplet. The ice cube was also done in the same way. then i draw an arrow using the rectangle n star tool.

Then, i added some smaller icebergs and done the reflection.

Lastly, i added in the snowflakes using the paint brush tool and then i change the opacity of it.

And thats complete!!^^

Sketch

This is the sketch of what my poster is going to be like. I have the slogan ontop, my previous iceberg in the middle, with added some smaller ones, a sign of "water > ice" and some text.

The REALLY Final outcome XD

Here, my REALLY final outcome, WITH textures XD. It does look better does it?@@

Unsatisfied

With an unsatisfying felling, I added textures into the assignment and it came out pretty good.

Firstly, I select the part where i want the texture to be and opened the transparency window, there I click show thumbnail and then make opacity mask, double click the black box and placed in the textures I wanted with some adjustment with the opacity, the above are the result. The iceberg's texture was done in the exactly same way.

The Final Product

And here it is my work done.^^

The Step-by-step Explanation.

1st, I put the picture of my sketch into Adobe Illustrator as a tracing pic. Then, I put guide lines so that there is a frame like thinggy and make the picture opacity lower for better viewing.

After that I trace along the sketch's out lines using the pen tool.

A more detailed tracing is done.

After that, I make the picture for tracing to be hidden and made the tracing lines to be live paint. Then, i just put in the colors i wanted in there. When that is done I select the whole image and add in the feather effect.

Here, i make a new layer and add in backgrounds, lock it and went back to the previous image. Then I make a copy of the whole image and transfer it to another new layer, reflect it, blur, and reduce the opacity so that it looks like a reflection.

After the background and the iceberg reflection is done, i made the outline of the iceberg white.
Then in a new layer drawn the clouds, blurred it and added feather effect also. After that, I make a copy of it and transfer it to the background layer. There, i reflected it, blurred more and reduced the opacity. Solar flare was then added in a new layer.

Lastly, I add in my previous symbol in assignment 1 and its DONE...XD

Final Sketch

My final sketch after several failed sketches.
Will be doing my Assignment 2 with this, no more time wasting going to do my .AI file now.

New References

After some thinking.........I think that my previous sketch was too complicated and its kind of not what assignment 2 should be.
So I went on finding some more references and below are the one that I grabbed from DeviantArt.

Explanations on the Symbol

This is the symbol that I have done. I came across the idea of this symbol when I'm finding information on global warming. I got the idea of the melting of the iceberg, an iceberg, heat, fire, flame and got the idea of an iceberg in flame. I planned my symbol that way because i wanted to make it very straight forward and easy to understand.

I chose the color red for the flame because that is what a flame looks like, and as i said i wanted it to be simple so i chose red, because everyone know that red is a hot color.
Then i chose a light blue color for the iceberg because that is also what an iceberg basically looks like and to make it simple i chose light blue.

And to sum everything up:

Red: color of a flame
Light Blue: color of an iceberg
Flame: represent flame
Iceberg shape: Represent Iceberg

The Making of the Symbol In AI

This is the 1st step on making the symbol. 1st, a shape of the iceberg is shaped out by drawing lines and bending then with the 'convert anchor point tool' as above.

Then some touch up is done and the result are as above.

Then I started to make up the flame around the iceberg by using the same way as the iceberg are made.

Then I just finish up the the flame using the same way also.

After that, I fill up the symbols with the colors of my choice and my symbol is finished!

1st Sketches on Symbol

I have done some research on Global Warming and I've came up with these ideas on my mind. I tried to keep it simple and easy to understand. The main idea is about melting ice caps.

My choice for the symbol will be the one on the right.

Global Warming? What is it?

Definition: Global warming is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century, and its projected continuation.

Causes: The Earth's climate changes in response to external forcing, including variations in its orbit around the Sun (orbital forcing), changes in solar luminosity, volcanic eruptions, and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations.

Effect: Raising sea levels, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences, but predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact.
